I am selling the two ear receivers on eBay.
I need to fund a Captain Cardboard Studio Scale X-Wing........
One of the receivers is not quite studio, an error was made but it still looks great.

Star Trek The Original Series TOS Earpiece Ear Receiver as used on the show by Uhura and Spock. Lathe work turning and milled hole, bonded together and shown with the ear mould for the left ear.

Uhura / Spock replica Ear Receiver from Star Trek The Original Series.

The Replica is machined from solid aluminium in two pieces and bonded together.

The ear adapter has a metal insert with a spring clip to retain the item, surprisingly very secure but the turned piece is very light weight.

A nice prop / cosplay model.

Star Trek TOS Original Series Ear Receiver Earpiece Piece Communicator Prop Cosplay Turned on the Lathe from Aluminium - Work in Progress WIP

Work in progress.....

So far not so bad, managed to break one parting off / grooving tool but surprisingly didn't damage the item and I managed to pick up where I had left off.

Looking at screen grabs from the net, the size and shape looks about right. I had read on other forums that others decided on 1" stock but I wonder if it should be slightly larger in diameter. 1" it is at the moment.

I have the ear mould in hand and that looks good, a few more hours (weeks!) and we will see how it looks.

TOS Star Trek Original Series Uhura Earpiece Drawing Blueprint

So............

I have been asked to have a look at turning one or two of these.........

I might give it a go; little reference to go on but for a few forum discussions where no one really discusses the sizes but complain about the poor quality 3d printed rubbish available on eBay.

Solid aluminium is the way to go (but maybe a sandwich affair of rod and discs might be easier).

I have looked at a few screen grabs from different sources and have come up with the dimensions in the image and download PDF.

What say you? What do you think?
